I watched as she entered her car
in the Barnes and Noble parking lot
she was tall thin and formal
her iron gray hair pinned up
in an old maid’s bun
her thin pinched face wore an expression
of habitual sourness
she paused in her car seat
which in turn made me pause
she put her hands into her face and
her head shook

You spewed your defense
On helpless virginal 8.5 x 11
It will never again be the same
You knew we had written
The end of this chapter in your book
Your defense and pleading
Are riddled with non-sensical ramblings
For I know…
you move from job to job
as often as you jump from husband to husband
If the “Lord” truly does [...]
